Artist Statement:
Subverting and challenging the viewer’s sense of reality through sculpture, where relative symmetry focuses on content and form through the immediacy of composition. Where the material honesty of hardwoods showcases the beauty of nature as an artistic accomplice. Geometric shapes and scale based gradients translate intangible movements emulating audio waveforms, with smooth undulations starkly contrasting the solid materiality of hardwoods. This juxtaposition of natural curvilinear forms and geometric shapes abstracts inspirations that are at first intangible, then digitally abstracted to view, and finally both tangible and viewable through further abstraction and recontextualization. Thus mimicking digitally representational forms, and physically representing them dimensionality to apply relative mimesis to intangible yet dimensional concepts. The narrative of an audio engineer and musician turned artist, integrating aspects of their creative whole through sculptural works. In an effect to attain a greater self of sense through personae melding.
